6 Ways To Crush The New Year With Madie Clinard

We all have made plenty of unreasonable/unmaintainable resolutions over the years. I was the absolute WORST when it came to creating these unrealistic resolutions. I was the queen of talking the talk but not ever putting it into action. By replacing untouchable goals with goals that I could see myself implementing every day for the rest of my life I have been able to crush my resolutions for the past three years in a row.

1. FIGURE OUT YOUR WHY

Knowing your why is probably the most important thing when it comes to kicking ass and creating new habits. First and foremost, WRITE THEM OUT… get these goals out on paper and literally ask yourself, “why?”.  Why are you wanting to “lose that extra 20 pounds”? Think about the true reasoning behind each goal. I challenge you to find a POSITIVE “why” for each and every goal. If your “why” to lose 20 pounds is because you think you’re fat, I can guarantee you are going to have a harder time maintaining your goal. This immediately creates a negative relationship with your goal. Your goal is meant to help you live a longer, happier and fuller life! Not a life that is surrounded by negativity and a chained up mentality.

2. FIND A FRIEND

Find a friend who has the same or similar goal as you. I swear every single time that I have had a friend who has the same goal as me I have been able to crush my goal. Accountability is incredibly vital when it comes to goals. Not only are you able to have a cheerleader throughout the process but you have someone who you can talk about the process as well. It’s way easier to let yourself down than it is to let a friend down… so grab your go-to-gal and get after your goal!

3. DITCH THE NEGATIVE SELF TALK

I know I touched on this in my first tip but really… when has negative self-talk EVER helped you reach a goal faster? I like to remind myself “what you speak is what you reflect”. I used to tell others around me that I felt “fat” or “ugly” and would look for instant gratification from the responses of others. I tried to fill myself with the approval of others to feel loved, worthy and important. I feel extremely blessed to have been surrounded by a solid group of friends over these last few years that have been all about speaking LIFE into themselves and into those around them. If any of you have followed my YouTube then you know my favorite line is, “Speak Life and Speak Positivity.” I believe when you kick those negative thoughts to the curb and replace them with positive thoughts, you begin to BELIEVE the positive thoughts. Doing this can help you achieve many things… including crushing your goals!

4. START FROM THE ROOT

Starting from the ROOT of your goal is key. If someone told you that you were going to have to run a marathon by the end of the year, would you start training two weeks before the date of the race? No!! You would begin preparing months in advance, working your way up to that point. Just like a marathon, you can’t expect your goal to be achieved overnight. This is something that is going to take time and a LOT of patience. Depending on your goal, the timeline will look different but with persistence and endurance, your goal will be crushed in no time.

5. DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT

The title of this tip seems a bit self-explanatory but let me tell you, this is probably the most underrated tip on here. Deciding what YOU, yourself actually want isn’t the easiest thing to do in the society we live in. It’s so easy to fall into the trap on social media of comparison / wanting to look exactly like your go-to blogger. This is a dangerous trap to fall into, not only because you will never be the same as that person, but because you are prohibiting your creativeness to take off! We need FRESH EYES for the world we live in. We need NEW and BRIGHT ideas. Use your goal as a kick start to what YOU want! Be your own person and encourage others to do the same. Trust me, achieving a goal for yourself, rather than others, has a much more rewarding feeling at the end.

6. GET ORGANIZED/PLAN

This is the tip that I had to use a lot of self-control and practice before I felt like I had it down: organizing and planning. These two words are words that I don’t think I would make it through my day if I didn’t live by them. Organizing your day/week is absolutely essential in order to help you reach your goals. You can plan ahead (I like to do it on Sunday afternoon or early Monday morning) so that your week has structure and you’re able to achieve your daily to-do list, while not neglecting your goals. The first thing I do when I wake up is hit the gym. Now, this did NOT come naturally but by implementing this routine and planning ahead, I am able to work on my fitness goals daily. After I complete my work out I am able to come home, regroup, and get to work for the day! Start organizing and begin planning ahead so that your goals don’t get left behind.
