I like to think California has really defined my “basics” for me. I used to be all over the place and didn’t really have staples. Now, I think I have really honed in a few different looks that describe me and I feel my best in. I have a green Billabong sweater (unfortunately sold out) that I wear non stop, a Free People wrap dress (also sold out) that I adore, a Reformation slip dress and a Madewell tee in a few different colors that I wear multiple times a week.
1. A Classic Tee
If you aren’t a tee girl, buy this one and I promise you, you will be. I never really found one I loved and then bought this tee, bought it in 3 more colors and never looked back. They are a simple and easy basic you can pair with a skirt, denim shorts, jeans and more. Pair them with a gold necklace and you’re all set.
2. Denim Shorts That Will Last
I have gone through SO. MANY. DENIM. SHORTS. But, I have found 2 this year I really love. These ones (that I am wearing above) and these ones that I am wearing in this pic. They are both comfortable, sturdy, and a good length (a little cheeky). Transition them into fall with a sweater, mules and dainty jewelry until it gets a little too chilly to wear them. Show them legs, girl!
3. A Dress That Can Go Day To Night
THIS. I can’t tell you how much this changed my life. I love fancy dresses. More than I can explain. But they were just filling my closet with no reason to wear them. So, I started to find good basics when it came to dresses. Ones I could wear day and night. Finding a comfortable dress that was easy to throw on but also easy to dress up changed the game for me.
