Self-care is one of my favorite things to talk about and one of the things I shy away from the most when it comes to sharing online. I always said I would wait to talk about anything until I “hit my fitness goal” or “looked like a fitness person” (aka had a 6 pack). But I decided I will never really be truly ready and the people I admire most are those who are in the midst of their journey like me. This year is all about finding confidence through care. From health and fitness to skincare and hair care, this series is going to cover it all. I’m set out to be the best version of me. Are you in too?
1. Why am I doing Confidence Through Care?
I was trying to think of way to explain my life the past few years and that about sums it up. I grew up playing sports and having coaches yell at me so I stayed fit constantly. But fast forward to adulthood and I had to figure it all out on my own. My time here in CA has been filled with figuring out was nutrients I need and when, what workouts do and don’t work for me and what makes me happy and confident. I have lost over 15 pounds since moving here and learned so much about myself. But beyond working out/nutrition, this year I am really focusing on becoming the best version of me in a ton of different ways.
2. What will Confidence Through Care be about?
Anything and everything. I am going to be sharing workout routines I saw work and health things I have tried, failed, succeeded, loved and hated. Beyond that, I want to dive more into skincare. I started the year with a lot of new products and a drive to have the clear skin I have always dreamt of. Plus, I am trying really hard to take care of my hair this year. I feel like it’s thin and not that exciting so I have constantly put it on the back burner. But I am trying a few new things to make it healthier, thicker and shinier. All in all, I am going to focus on anything that I categorize as “self care” that helps me feel great about myself. If you have ideas, DM me!
3. What am I most insecure about when it comes to my confidence?
I’ve never been one to seriously pick myself apart, but I have always been really self aware. I am very honest with myself and definitely know where I am slacking and where I am not. I want to be more fit. I lack confidence there, but I am also really confident in what I am doing. So overtime I think that confidence will grow. I also want to have healthier skin. “Acne” has never really been a problem for me, but I have a handful of breakouts often and I want to pay more attention to taking care of my skin. Lastly, I have thin hair, like really thin and I have never loved it. However, I want to take pride in its thinness and make it the healthiest it can be this year. I work hard, am kind to myself and know things don’t happen overnight. So hopefully I’ll gain a little more confidence through care this year 😉
4. What do I hope we get out of Confidence Through Care?
Most of all, I hope we learn to GIVE OURSELVES GRACE. Enjoy life and don’t lose it in the craziness of diets, numbers, results, or sets. But with that being said, I hope we learn the importance of listening to our body. Also, that it’s okay to be unsatisfied with yourself. We aren’t always going to have the best weeks, days, or months. Rough patches are a real thing. Seasons of life happen and you won’t always feel like a million bucks. But I hope we learn that we only have one body and taking the best care of it we can will help us feel the best we can.
